Jim Vision New Walls

Jim Vision is one of those who’s been out flexing his painty fingers and has created 2 new pieces in the past week. You’ll have seen his Save the Bees murals with Louis Masai and other works featuring beautiful waves demonstrating the mighty force of the sea (Rhoda Street, E2, & in Tahiti), fantastical works where a formidable Goddess of the Sea flings her worst at a flaming island in Teufelsberg for Berlin Rising, but these new walls demonstrate ever more the keen humanitarian and environmentalist that Jim is. Illustrating an awareness of the plight of many indigenous races and a harking back to years gone by, the first wall features Native Americans waiting on the shore has Jim’s boat piece from last year shows through from behind and heads for the shore.

The second wall, with a slightly stronger and more incendiary vibe, features a warrior seated on his galloping horse holding aloft a flaming stars & stripes flag, while an old style oil pump burns in the background. Could this be a comment on the ravaging of natural resources and the displacement of indigenous peoples that many countries have experienced? We are all well aware that oil war is a constant one, and until the natural sources are completely depleted and run dry we will have this ongoing battle by governments, corporations and countries to sway the market in their favour and to control the supply.
