DIOSSIDO DI CARBONIO & CALATHEA MAKOYANA is the title of the latest stunning artwork of Fabio Petani, for the StreetArtBall project, a regeneration project of the city of Bergamo to paint basketball courts.
For the project several Italian street artists were invited to cover five basket ball courts with their artworks with the support of the Bergamasca Community Foundation.
One of the invited artists Fabio Petani painted one of his most fascinating creations featuring a Calathea Makoyana, a plant that absorbs harmful substances and transforms them into pure oxygen.
The idea applied on the basket ball court piece came to the artist after reflecting on how the pandemic has influenced the lives of thousands of people worldwide, but especially around Bergamo, a city harshly devastated during 2020. Renewal and rebirth seemed to be the right concepts in mind for this piece.
