Wild Beasts Art Agency is unveiling ”Education Is The Key To Unlock Equality”, a public art initiative in collaboration with London based artist, Darren John. Darren’s signature graphic artwork is displayed across two large scale banners, spelling out a very obvious step that we need to take to build an equal future.
Located on two prominent billboards, under the rail bridge on the junction of Old Street and Shoreditch High Street, it will be free to view from Thursday 1st April to Sunday 18th April.
With these two pieces, Darren aims to encourage open dialogue around the inequalities that challenge our society. Much like the rest of his art practice, these pieces are universal and for all to engage with. Wild Beasts will use the project to interview and document the views of the public, in picture and writing, to demonstrate what Londoners are experiencing today.
John said: “When we re-imagine our surroundings, we open doors to new thoughts and creative opportunities. Integrating this mindset into our every-day lives can enrich our worlds for the better.”
Wild Beasts Art Agency is developing several street art campaigns across London. The next will be in South London, this summer; a collaboration between artists Maxim, also known as a member of British dance band The Prodigy, and Nyces, who’s murals depicting unity went viral last year.
Ayesha Mahomed and Sammy Forway, Co-founders of Wild Beasts said: “We want to work with emerging artists in the UK who inspire equality and unity amongst the masses. Instead of just putting art on walls we will use our campaigns, to open doors to accessible resources and partnerships, to share with anyone who cares to take the next steps towards a better future.”
