In Turin, a mural painting interacts with the environment. As a winner of “Collegno Si-Cura” call for artists, curated by Contrada Torino Onlus Foundationand promoted by the Municipality of Collegno (TO), Greg Jager was selectedfrom over 100 international artists, has produced “Stagioni” an artwork located in Corso Francia 73, Collegno (Turin).
The relationship between architecture and the environment, as central theme of his research, prompted the artist to create a 250 square meter wall painting that interacts with urban space and includes elements of the surrounding vegetation. The artist has designed the artwork by enhancing the trees in front with colors and shapes, creating a particular optical illusion that makes the vegetation perceive as part of the painting itself.
Visual artist (1982) with graffiti writing background. He relates abstract graphics to architectural contexts, with the aim of displacing the viewers by immersing them in an abstract dimension. The dialogue between graphic sign and architecture represents a constant theme of research and experimentation for the artist.
During the course of 2018 he participated in several international festivals, including Athens Street Art Festival (Athens) and carried out site-specific installations such as Metamuseo at the Macro – Contemporary Art Museum of Rome, up to being noticed by a great fashion brand like Fendi , for which he made a large-scale artwork.
The project “Collegno SI-CURA” presented by the Municipality of Collegno and curated by Contrada Torino Onlus Foundation, within the TOP METRO candidacy of the Metropolitan City, is an operation born with the aim of putting a consolidated method of “intervention “For and with the territory, capable of combining physical and material care with social actions and intangible activities to increase real levels of territorial awareness. Through an internationally open call, 3 artists have been selected: Greg Jager (ITA), Geometric Bang (ITA) and Himed & Reyben (USA / MEX). The artists were invited to create an urban art painting and a workshop in collaboration with Collegno schools and citizens.
