Mural for Black Lives by Murals for the Movement

Street Theory Gallery, announced the successful collaboration and installation of their latest mural entitled, “No Weapon Formed Against Thee Shall Prosper by legendary Street Artists & Muralists: Sophia Dawson, Cey Adams and Marka27, located at Ideal Glass 22 E. 2nd St. New York, NY. This mural comes during a time of deep social and political unrest, uprising and awakening due to countless incidents of police violence and brutality against Black People and People of Color.

“I started working on a painting of young George Floyd in the arms of his mother a few days before the mural started to add to a body of work that I have that features mothers of victims of police brutality in order to shift the perspectives of those who do not understand why there is an uprising and those who don’t think that police brutality is an issue. Focusing on the mothers who have lost their children allows people to sympathize and empathize with People of Color in this country”, said Sophia Dawson, Artist.

“No Weapon Formed Against Thee Shall Prosper” is the inaugural mural for Street Theory Gallery’s new project, Murals for the Movement — a people-powered, crowdfunded initiative to enhance and amplify opportunities for diverse and culturally-inspired artwork by BIPOC Artists, with large-scale public art that expresses a strong sense of civic and social engagement.
