Join the competition Street Art of the Year 2020!
The cultural and creative sector has been damaged severely by the economic impact of mandatory social distancing. Nevertheless, thanks to Covid-19 all kinds of initiatives have emerged that are still possible such as the international election Street Art of the Year 2020. An initiative developed by Stichting Kunstweek and implemented by De Kunst Collega´s, from the Netherlands. Both unsubsidised organisations are constantly developing initiatives to make art more widely accessible and to bring artists into contact with art lovers.
Street artists from all over the world can participate.
Until October 31st you can upload images (max 4) of your work unto www.streetartoftheyear.com.
There are two categories, Murals and Interventions. Artists can take part in both categories and win prizes for both categories. The grand prize Murals is €2000 and the grand prize Interventions €1000!
In November a jury consisting of Ard Doko from the Netherlands, street artist and Street-Art-expert for Catawiki, Bjørn van Poucke from Belgium, curator at the biggest Street Art festival in Europe The Crystal Ship, Eric Eludut from France, editor-in-chief at Graffiti Art Magazine, the leading printed bimonthly magazine distributed throughout 15 countries and Raenys Martis from Holland, initiator and curator at Heerlen Murals projects will determine the 30 nominees per category.
They do not pretend to nominate the best Street Art, only the best from all the submitted works.
In December 2020 they will announce the 10 finalists and the three winners per category.
In November, the public will also be able to vote via the website and thus determine the winners of the Audience Award.
Information about the award ceremony at the end of this year and where to buy tickets will follow at a later date. All nominees will receive an invitation. Artists have to submit their own work in order to be able to participate. A small fee is asked to compensate the organization and administration costs.
