As Seen on the Streets of London

Giulia BLocal Riva announces the release of As Seen on the Streets of London, the second volume in her series on the world’s most inspiring street art cities. Following the Paris edition in 2024, this 298-page book blends artists’ voices, historical context, and fine art photography to offer an insider’s view of London’s graffiti and street art culture.

A Book Born From the Streets
As Seen on the Streets of London grew out of Giulia BLocal Riva’s long-standing engagement with the street art community. The result is a book rooted in authenticity, combining fieldwork, insider knowledge, artists’ perspectives, and immersive photography.

Inside the book
As Seen on the Streets of London features the voices of 11 London-based street artists, who share their perspectives on the city: the neighborhoods they inhabit, the places that inspire them, and their relationship with London’s walls. This edition also includes shorter contributions from other local artists, creating a rich mosaic of viewpoints.

Alongside these insights, the book offers:
● A historical introduction to London’s graffiti and street art movement
● Recommendations for must-see murals, spots, and neighborhoods
● A detailed interactive Google map to navigate the scene
● Stories behind key artworks, with artists’ intentions and inspirations
● Practical tips and cultural addresses to enrich any visit
● Suggestions for hidden gems and lesser-known areas
● Nearly 300 pages of fine art photography by Paolo Giannotti

The book is available in two editions: Hardcover / Art Photography Book and Paperback / Travel Guide, both containing the same content but designed for different ways of experiencing the city.

Selected endorsements
“This is a book with heart, from the soul, written by an author who recognises the core tenets of what
makes ‘street art’ such a powerful movement and medium. It wrestles back that which is in constant
danger of being lost. Giulia has been a mainstay in the culture for over a decade, and it’s been an
honour to witness how the culture has shaped her as much as her research and writing, in turn, have
helped shape us. Buy it, read it, reflect on it. This is street art.”
— Martyn Reed, Founder of Nuart Festival

“This well-written and thoughtfully designed book, featuring numerous high-quality photographs, offers
a comprehensive study of contemporary graffiti and street art in London. Written by a respected subject
matter expert, As Seen on the Streets of London is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in this
urban visual art form.”
— Jeffrey Ian Ross, Ph.D., Editor of Routledge Handbook of Graffiti and Street Art

About the series As Seen on the Streets of…
Blending research, photography, and conversations with local artists, the series As Seen on the Streets of… invites readers to experience cities through the eyes of those who paint them, leading into overlooked corners and revealing stories rarely told in mainstream narratives. Each book is both a document and a travel companion, designed to help readers actively engage with
the city and explore beyond the beaten path at their own rhythm. While many publications reduce street art to a catalog of murals, detached from their context, As Seen on the Streets of… resists that simplification. It captures friction as much as beauty, the temporary as much as the monumental, and asks readers to notice what usually stays outside the frame: the contested, the fragile, the traces of a culture always at risk of being erased or appropriated.
