April 10, 2021 to April 18, 2021

Organised in the Historical Center of Lleida, to share and enjoy art and colors in the neighborhood. For nine days, talented artists will give a new life to several walls and they will leave a part of themselves and their art.

Urban art has experienced exponential evolution and growth in the last two decades. Within the different currents of contemporary art, urban art has become one of the main ones, with a totally contrasted force and capacity for urban and social transformation.

Current trends in urban art propose an integration with urban environments, achieving a communion between murals and buildings in the urban fabric.
This artistic emergency has been so important that many cities considered the most avant-garde in the world (New York, Berlin, Rome, Paris, Lisbon, Bogota, Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Madrid and Barcelona among many others) have joined these new art forms and promoted them as an element of enormous added value in different areas such as social, tourism, architecture and culture.

As a result of more than 25 years of cultural revitalization in urban art, the Department of Youth, Festivals and Traditions of Lleida City Council is taking a step forward in organizing activities around this artistic discipline and will organize a national and international festival, where renowned and prestigious artists will participate in this field and will offer the citizens of Lleida the opportunity to get in touch with this form of mural art.

In this first edition the festival will take place in the neighborhood of the Historic Center. The idea is that in each edition the festival will be held in different neighborhoods and areas of the city, and gradually create a network of works distributed throughout the city.

In parallel with the production of the murals, the festival will organize different activities around the promotion and cultural dissemination of this discipline. This year, the possibilities of carrying out these parallel activities are very limited by the security restrictions due the covid19 and therefore, a program will be carried out where the participation capacities are in accordance with the resolutions of the health authorities. In this sense, future editions will incorporate more diversity of activities, as well as a more notable degree of citizen participation.
