The best of the New Contemporary Art Movement in this blockbuster of a show! Thinkspace Projects is excited to get back to London, England, this May for our seventh showing in the UK. This time around, we are partnering with our good friends at BSMT Space to present ‘ELEVATE’, a banger of a group show showcasing small-scale 30x30cm works from some of the best in the New Contemporary Art Movement.

‘ELEVATE’ profiles the work of 71 creatives from around the globe. This special exhibition will feature well over 100 original works of art.

While there is no specific theme, each artist has been asked to work within a square format at a specific size. The square composition is a challenge for many, not to mention the small scale. Once displayed, side by side, row upon row, styles and colors and influences converging, the resulting visual experience is a feast for the senses.

The New Contemporary Art Movement emerged in the late 20th century as a response to traditional “high culture” art, embracing figuration, surrealism, pop culture, and subcultural influences. Rooted in accessibility and irreverence, it grew from the West Coast in the 1990s, creating its own platforms and spaces outside of mainstream institutions. Although long overlooked by the fine art establishment, the Movement is now gaining greater visibility, institutional recognition, and widespread popularity.

Though this Movement has remained largely unacknowledged by the vetted institutions of the fine art world and its arbiters of ‘high culture,’ the future promises a shift. The Movement’s formative aversion to the establishment is also waning in the wake of its increased visibility, institutional presence, and widespread popularity.

Thinkspace Projects have sought to champion and promote the unique breadth of the Movement, creating new opportunities for the presentation of its artists and work. ‘ELEVATE’ presents a special opportunity for art lovers in the UK to purchase an original work at an approachable price point from an internationally renowned artist created in a size anyone can find the perfect spot for. ‘ELEVATE’ your flat.
