Exhibitions 3 solo shows in Swinton Gallery.Madrid, SPAIN

December 03, 2015 to January 09, 2016

Swinton Gallery presents three new exhibitions-

ROBERT HARDGRAVE  |  TO BE DETERMINED

JUDAS ARRIETA  |  CÓMICS ABSTRACTOS

BATANIA / NEORRABIOSO  |  PALABRAS EN LA BASURA

ROBERT HARDGRAVE

Robert Hardgrave is more than an american artist with a long and interesting career. His art is inseparably bound to his life experience. Both are marked by important chapters with well-defined styles, different from each other but united by a quiet and conscious evolution.

This exhibition shows Hardgrave’s last steps, his latest artistic reincarnation, through small-format drawings and large size collages made by awesome toner transfers on Tyvek, a very resistant type of paper made with high density polyethylene fibers. (Javier IA. Curator)

JUDAS ARRIETA

Judas Arrieta describes his paintings and drawings as ”abstract comics”, and that may let us think that there is always a narrative line inside them. This show, and the rest of Judas Arrieta’s work, come from the acceptance of the popular culture myth. His topics usually develop a set of icons that refer to different contexts and generate meta-stories in which we can find various influences: manga, anime and Eastern cinema, being related to art, literature and Western cinema.
Throughout this show we find balance between the vision of “The Heroic” and its demystification found at the intersection of all previous references. (Carlos Trigueros Cultural Researcher)

BATANIA / NEORRABIOSO

This mini solo show is composed of 25 images selected by Batania. All of them were painted and photographed since august 2015 on the rubbish bins of Madrid. They are aphorisms that the author defines as “centellas”.
Batania’s “centellas” have two aims, in first place to revalue one space which is crap for all of us, and in second place to do an exercise of humility, bringing poetry and literature from Academies to rubbish containers. In fact , to write them, Neorrabioso has to knee in front of the bucket.
