Alecrim, A world of elements, patterns and shapes. A universal aesthetic, open to the imagination of every one. Having studied Graphic Communication Design, Nuno Alecrim has started exploring the visual arts in recent years. His inspiration comes from nature and contact with different cultures. Minimalism, geometry, textures and patterns are his main focus.
His works are mostly monochromatic, connected by the influence of his roots in graphic design, and by linking to the primitive and elementary. Favouring form, he prevents the observer from becoming lost in colour.
In his work, he uses various techniques: painting, screen-printing, woodcut, stencil; and materials: rope, wool and other natural elements. Using these techniques, he has developed patterns for textiles, paper, fabrics and murals.
