“OFF THE WALL” aims to exhibit the artistic output of two internationally known talents that even if belong to different generations and work with different media share the similar interests. Brad Howe is mainly a sculptor and he deeply explores the potentiality of the 3-d object, creating many different type of artworks; in this occasion we focused on a particular type of agile and subtle sculptures that hang to the wall or from the ceiling, becoming part of the environment. On the other side Demsky is mainly a painter but his works are a masterpiece of illusive effects, in fact, thanks to a series op optical tricks and perspective expedient, they look like a 3-d item. In particular the exhibition title highlights how Demsky’s artworks, even if 2-D seem to stand out from the wall while Brad Howe’s delicate sculptures seem to enter inside the wall and melt with it.

Another artistic approach that combine these two authors is the willing to get off the wall and the private space in a physical way. While Demsky is a renewed street artist who painted many large scale walls and portion of the urban landscapes, Howe is a master in realizing big art commission as large scale sculptures placed in eminent public space and enjoyable from everybody.

J. Demsky (1979, Elx)
From the day he fell into the graffiti world in the early 90’s. Dems has not ceased in destroying and rebuilding the alphabet from every angle. Crossing the entire world, jumping between hemispheres and continents, seeking for a new dimension. His style sounds like a Jupiter 8, the legendary fluor era synthesizer. Visually recognizable at first sight, his work captures the whole essence of Arcades and Sci-Fi saturated films, inspired by blue laser and red neon. With a single stroke, he can incarnate the water resist calculator-watch Casio precision or the Japanium force, resulting in a direct although subtle blow to the good-taste conventional laws. His elegant compositions devour space and make you travel to a totally unknown, but such familiar world that we could enter it, before watching the space and time fold, creating a timeless loop, right there, between the D and the S.

Brad Howe (1959, Riverside)
As a student of International Relations at Stanford University, Howe attended the University of São Paulo to specialize in Literature and Economic History. It was there that he discovered his passion for art and architecture that would eventually lead to his first exhibitions. He started his career as a sculptor in Brazil, using stainless steel, aluminum and polyurethane. Since then, he has exhibited in over eighteen countries worldwide and his works have been placed in collections in more than 32 countries, including Brazil, Mexico, France, Germany, South Korea and United States. His work can also be found at various universities including Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, Temple University in Philadelphia, and UCLA. Monumental and Public Art have become a major focus of his career. Over the past ten years, he has completed over 30 public projects in 7 different countries.
