Filip 3D

We speak with Croatian, 3D anamorphic street painter Filip Mrvelj. An Earth man who is inspired by our existence in the Cosmos, he creates passionately his stunning artworks around the world including his favorite city Vukovar. Find out what inspires him and more interesting and less interesting details from his experience as an artist!

(Hey Filip! Lets start with an Unimportant question)
-What would you like to drink? Coffee, Tea, Beer, Soda or something else?
Coffee is fine😊

-Introduce yourself to us – as if we had no idea who you were!
My name is Filip, street painter from Croatia.

– Where does your (tag) Artist name come from?
It comes from the form of art I’m using most often in last decide-anamorphic painting with “3d” effect.

-How do you define yourself and why? Artist? Street artist? Something else?
I define me self like Earth man 😊, painter… which time from time is lucky to go in art zone.

– How did it all start for you, and what is it nowadays?
The whole story with colors begins when I was really young … my parents noticed paper and pencils are just things that stop me crying 😊. . Last 15 years is nowadays- I live from the colors and with colors!

-What is the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?
Put some sound on!

-Street art is mostly a visually stimulating form of art. To add one more sense to it, what music would you pick to accompany your art work?
It’s always a kind of blues, rock, funky that goes around my head until I’m painting. Only moments in my life when I’m really a musician is when I’m on the street with my brushes. Love that feeling.

-In all forms of art, inspiration is crucial. What inspires you and how does that end up in your art?
I get inspired by lots of different things. The idea of cosmos and our place in it is constantly on my mind. After that airplanes, although I’m moving in the future to more social, green, daily basis themes through the eyes of Earthmen.

-What is the hardest part while working on a piece of art?
For me only one thing – dealing with bad weather forecast!!!!

-Do you have any artist(s) you admire? Can you pinpoint what it is that makes them so special for you?
I have lots off artist/persons that I admire and first of all learn from them. If you can amaze me with skills of painting, story telling, effort you put in your artwork; you are on my list!

-Which cities are the most inspiring for you as an artist?
On top Berlin, that’s why I choose him for a place to live. I think I do not have to spend many words why 😉. On the other side, small towns like Vukovar/ Croatia, which represent courage and spirit in involving art in their communities.

-What other passions do you have apart from art?
I like flying (but almost not have time for that any more), biking….

-Do you have a special project that you hope to achieve some day?
I have couple…one of them most likely I will manage at the end of year (huge land art), fingers crossed😊

-What do you think, people feel or think of, when they see one of your works on the street?

Not too much of those things, it is mostly an effect of a surprise when the viewers confront themselves with the illusion of paintings and realize how I play with their brains 😊

– How long time does your art work, on walls, usually survive for?
As I usually paint on the ground it can be until first rain or if I use more durable colors even couple of years. My personal record is 8 years old painting which I have painted in Slavonski Brod / CRO (1300m2). The interesting thing with this piece it is usually a couple of weeks per year under water because it is located on the river bank.

-What are your creative plans for the future?
I need to paint more! Simple as that 😊

-Is there a little wish you have that not many people know about?
I speak over too much😊, those who need to know-know!

-Is there a specific thought or message you would like to pass to our audience out there?
Artists please take your garbage with you after you finish painting!

Thank you! It’s been great to get to know more about the mind and person behind such talented and inspiring works.
