SISAF is looking for street artists to paint the grey walls of the schools in Sibiu, Romania. Sibiu International Street ART Festival announces a new edition which continues the steps of transforming the Romanian city in a street art gallery, taking place from 2nd to 8th of July 2018. The registration and selection of the projects for SISAF, 4th edition has officialy begun.
The Street Art Tour of Sibiu, which now contains 47 mural paintings and over 3.500 square meters of color, will be completed this year with new projects that are to enliven the grey walls and to regenerate the entire urban space. The edition’s theme is #CanYouFeel?, so the artists are free to express what they feel either through big sized murals, art installations, sculptures or performances.
“We are starting a new adventure, being motivated by the fact that every edition contribued at balancing the emptiness of the walls and the concrete’s bitterness that the people from Sibiu watch everyday in their neighbourhoods, through mural paintings that are not only serving as decor, but also as a message. We started naturally with the schools and highschools and we continue with enthusiasm to complete their walls, although the first project made on a block of flats last year motivates us to bring the street art closer to people from the comunity, in new urban spaces. We wish for art in the city / a city filled with art!”, says Andrei Oltean, the president of ART Factory Transylvania Association.
The artists can apply on www.streetartfestival.ro by completing an online form, until May 6th 2018. The projects will be analyzed by a jury made up of specialists in the field and, thus, 10 pieces of work will be selected to be made on the walls that are set together with the Sibiu City Hall.
Sibiu International Street ART Festival is unique because of the most extensive Street Art Tour that includes projects made on the walls of the city’s schools. Being a form of alternative tourism, all 47 murals made during the three editions are marked on a map, which can be found for free in hotels, accommodation spaces and tourists information points. The Sibiu Street Art Tour can be done by bicycle in near 2 and a half hours.
Sibiu International Street ART Festival is an event co-funded by the City Council Sibiu and the City Hall of Sibiu.
